International business Blooms at Spring Fair

International Buyers meeting with suppliers at the BJGI ‘meet the buyer’ event

British Jewellery & Giftware International produced another successful Meet the Buyer event, in conjunction with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and The International Trade Promotion Centre, during Spring Fair International at Birmingham NEC on 6th February 2012.

Over 300 meetings took place between 93 UK companies and 57 international buyers and UKTI delegates from 18 countries, including the USA, Russia, Brazil, Turkey, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.

One buyer from NBC Universal (USA) commented on the unique style of the event: “I’ve never participated in a speed networking event before and really appreciated the concept – I’ve met with companies I would never have found by just walking the halls of this huge exhibition.

The concept is great, I stay in one room whilst the British companies come and see me – it helps after a long haul flight!”

Following the Meet the Buyer event buyers conducted follow up meetings on UK companies’ exhibition stands, with one Russian buyer spending over 2 hours at Rayware Group’s stand. Richard Stevenson, Rayware’s International Sales Manager said: “We are confident for some new business to come from this year’s Meet the Buyer event as we’ve received orders from leads established at previous events.”

Mike Josypenko, Manager of British Jewellery and Giftware International coordinated the visit. “Spring Fair International is a great vehicle for showcasing the best of British giftware, jewellery, home decoration and fashion accessories to the world, and this event is a tried and tested way to introduce international buyers to our members. Early indications are that the majority of the buyers will place orders with UK suppliers as a result of their visit.”
