The appointment of Richard Cox as Sales Director at Gecko Jewellery looks set to create a new programme of support from the company for the many independent jewellery and gift retailers it supplies. It also heralds the expansion of the brand in the international marketplace, especially in America.
Richard, who was previously a main board director at Design Objectives, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of craft and hobby products (including jewellery) has long experience in sales and describes his background as being in ‘fast moving consumer goods’.
“My core expertise is in placing a great product into a diverse retail base on an international basis,” he commented. Adding: “Understanding the retailer’s needs is fundamental and I have spent the past five to ten years helping independent retailers to grow their sales. I am very much looking forward to working with Gecko stockists to do the same.”
Under Richard’s guidance, Gecko is set to introduce a number of promotional items for the independent retail sector. These will include free-standing units, point-of-sale and various display materials to help retailers seize opportunities for better incremental sales whilst also building a stronger consumer-facing identity for the brand.
Another key role for Richard will be to expand Gecko’s international sales. He is already involved in appointing distributors across Europe and will be making North America, where he has particular expertise, his top priority in the months to come.
Andrew Morton, chief executive of WB The Creative Jewellery Group, of which Gecko and its sister firms Domino and Weston Beamor are a part, is delighted to have Richard on board.
“Gecko had a very successful fair at Basle this year and I have no doubt that Richard’s appointment as a dedicated and highly professional sales director will help the brand to capitalise upon the contacts made and to expand its market penetration and brand awareness both in the UK and overseas,” he commented.
