Mr Chatterley was a President of the BJA in 1955, Liveryman of the Goldsmiths Company, Guardian of the Birmingham Assay Office and the last Managing Director of John B. Chatterley & Sons of the Jewellery Quarter.
Mr Chatterley celebrated his 101st birthday recently and did not suffer towards the end. Martin, as he was known to us all, passed quietly away on 21st January 2011.
