Parking/Transportation Update

A meeting has now taken place between the bus company and the Council’s transportation department regarding the worsening traffic congestion around the Clock and they are considering lengthening the on street bus pull-in area along past the unused run-up to allow buses to park further down Warstone Lane from the Clock.

Also they are considering removing the three Pay & Display Bays and putting in a single yellow line to allow short time loading and unloading of vehicles.

Hopefully this will happen in the near future, especially as lately the 101 buses have been running in tandem all day – why? Good question!

It is vital to keep this area around the Clock as free-running as possible as it is an emergency route, especially for ambulances. The proposed changes to parking are still under ‘hot’ debate.

The Hockley Flyer magazine is entirely funded by the advertising, but could do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Subscribers pay only a bit more than the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
