The Heat Is On … at The Laboratory at The Birmingham Assay Office

With the price of gold and other precious metals rising, the demand for precious metal reclamation is increasing. The Laboratory at The Birmingham Assay Office has responded by significantly upgrading its melting facility.

New induction furnaces now enable the Laboratory to offer a faster and more efficient precious metals melting service.

The improved service provides melt and assay of scrap containing gold, silver, platinum and palladium.

The Laboratory uses Dip sampling from the core of the molten metal which provides highly accurate results. All remaining dip samples together with any residues are ALL returned to the customer.

The Birmingham Assay Office reports are widely accepted by all the major refiners and bullion dealers. This means customers can sell for the best price. Certificate numbers are also stamped on the bars. A same day melt and assay service is available upon arrangement.
The Laboratory at The Birmingham Assay Office provides a trusted, INDEPENDENT service which is UKAS accredited. As it does NOT purchase precious metals, it has no vested interest in the results.
