Just released, this book tells the story of the regeneration of Birmingham’s iconic jewellery Quarter through the creation of an Urban Village.
The book charts the successes (and the failures) of the plans to create a sizeable residential population whilst preserving the remaining jewellery trade and bringing in more visitors to the area to bolster the local economy.
This is the first book to focus on the recent history of the Quarter and includes some revealing interviews with some of the movers and shakers in this unique area.
Andy Munro is a born and bred Brummie who was seconded from the Civil Service to Birmingham City Council to drive forward the regeneration of the Quarter for over ten years, culminating in the creation of a Business Improvement District charged with continuing to champion the area.
The book is available locally from the Jewellery Quarter’s Pen Museum shop and other outlets including Waterstones, WH Smiths and Foyles.
